Alex is lost, misunderstood and well meaning. Entrapped in a world she is too young to understand she funnels her energy into one girl, Joe. As far as she is concerned, nobody else in the world has ever or could ever feel the way she does. Her intense passion for her first love could sometimes be interpreted as obsessive, obsolete and irrational.

Alex is intelligent beyond her age with no way the channel it, she is lost, feels isolated. She is extremely impressionable however, and takes easy influences from films, television and music.

Her obsession with perfection makes her a slight control freak - compelled to make everyone around her act in perfect unison with her actions, constantly playing them out in her head. Alex keeps letters, photographs and gifts from her time with Joe - treating them as if a fracture to their infrastructure could break or taint the relationship. 

She neglects viewing the damage her feelings for Joe has had on those around her - a irreversible impact that has her isolated from everyone but Hannah. Hannah and Alex have an unbreakable bond that Alex may well take advantage of. She relies on Hannah always being there even when she explodes into insanity. Hannah’s innocence and naivety allow the relationship to continue - for now anyway.
